Sanctus Church - Pickering Site Pastor

Context

Our vision is to become a missional church of 10,000 meeting the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of people in Jesus’s name. The following staff position is critical in helping Sanctus execute on the fulfillment of that vision.

Role

The Site Pastor will be the key leader overseeing and leading our vibrant and multicultural Sanctus Pickering site. This successful candidate will report directly to the Executive Pastor of Sites, and will have a strategic influence to lead, shepherd, care, equip and rally the site in alignment with Sanctus’ vision, mission and strategic planning.

• To be fully aligned and working towards the mission and vision of Sanctus Church and embody the staff values.
• To demonstrate spiritual maturity and ability to lead in a growing church environment.
• To be the main point of contact and pastoral presence for the Pickering site, leading and shepherding the Pickering community in the five Discipleship Dimensions.
• To be a leader of leaders, galvanizing, training and empowering all Serve Teams at the local level.
• To relentlessly pursue Sanctus Pickering to be a vibrant site for all ages and stages. 
• Opportunity for preaching at the Site level if aligned with the gift of teaching. 

• Ensure weekly in-person services and ministries initiatives are executed in alignment with the values of Sanctus.
• Be the main spokesperson for the local community.
• Oversee and lead site staff and serve teams.
• Champion and manage the Sanctus experience at the local site, providing excellence at all spaces and rooms available.
• Be a champion for generosity, financial stewardship and giving at the site.
• Have the responsibility and authority for in-the-moment decisions across the site, aligned with Sanctus leadership strategies and expectations.
• Provide pastoral care to all individuals and families at Pickering site.
• Be engaged for care needs, calls/visitations, and crisis response.
• Work closely with central and local teams to provide holistic care.
• Actively exercise pastoral leadership in Connect Groups and with Connect Group leaders.
• Engage Pickering site in mission, stewarding relationship with local partner and leading site community in bold evangelism and outreach in the local community.
• Champion Alpha locally, help it to thrive, contextualize it and ensure regular involvement. 
• To ‘lead the charge’ in prayer and spiritual warfare for the Pickering community.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with the local site community, in alignment with central Communications direction and guidelines. 
• Monitor key metrics of your local site, assessing opportunities for growth.
• Work closely and collaboratively with Sites Team and all Sanctus staff on church-wide events (e.g.: Palm Saturday and Sanctus Conference).
• Work closely with the Executive Pastor of Sites on ad-hoc pastoral projects and other pastoral duties as required.

• Plan and manage the Site Fiscal Year budget.

• University Degree desired; Seminary Degree (complete or in progress) desired.
• The following are beneficial and strongly desired:
• 3+ years of experience in pastoral roles. 
• Familiarity with Sanctus Church.
• Personal experience with Alpha is an asset.
• Experience working in a multi-staff, large, church context is an asset.
• Work experience in a fast-paced, high-caliber team environment is an asset.
• Able to provide a minimum of 3 character and work-related references.
