Role Summary

As the Human Resources Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for building, maintaining and improving Human Resources processes for Navigator supervisors and employees to follow. We are looking for someone who is enthused by the prospect of applying their existing skills and experience to help The Navigators of Canada pursue its calling to guide people into a deep, ongoing connection with Jesus and equip them to become guides to others.

You will do this through:

  • Ensuring compliance with policies & procedures
  • Implementing and maintaining a Human Resources database
  • Providing Human Resources coaching and guidance to field directors, supervisors and employees
  • Assisting with the onboarding and transitioning of staff and volunteers

  • Have knowledge in tracking mission critical HR information and data

  • Have a flexible approach to prioritizing and executing your duties
  • Have experience in Human Resources
  • Have or be actively pursuing a diploma, degree or designation in a related field of study
  • Have some experience working within the not-for-profit/charitable sector in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Develop/update policies, procedures and role description templates to ensure all activities are in compliance with Employment Standards legislation, organizational policy and legal requirements
  • Develop and maintain a simple Human Resources information system
  • Provide support in matters pertaining to Human Resources
  • Support the growth of the organization through effective onboarding and transition procedures
  • Provide oversight of and audit the organization’s Child Protection Policy
  • Provide support in matters of immigration related to staff relocating internationally

Selection Criteria

Essential Knowledge / Skills / Attributes

  • Knowledge of Human Resources best practices and principles
  • Ability to build good relationships with program staff, many of whom work remotely across Canada and international locations
  • Experience and/or educational background in Human Resources
  • Proficiency in Google Drive and Microsoft Office Suite including OneNote, Excel and Word
  • Good administrative and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, asking for clarification where needed
  • Comfortable in a working environment where job responsibilities evolve as team needs change

Other Relevant Information

Term:                           This is intended as a long-term position with an initial contract of one year

Compensation:            Negotiable, based on qualifications

Working Hours:           16-20 hours per week

Status:                         Candidates should be eligible to work in Canada

Location:                     This position will be based in The Navigators’ Arva office

Vacation:                     2 weeks paid vacation

Ideal Start Date:          ASAP
