JOB DESCRIPTION

WORSHIP CO-ORDINATOR

WILLOWDALE BAPTIST CHURCH

Spring, 2019

The Worship Co-ordinator will be paid for eight (8) hours per week to co-ordinate, organize

and oversee the worship ministry of Willowdale Baptist Church. This will be a one-year term

with the possibility of renewal. This person will be responsible to the Senior Pastor and will be

a team-oriented, positive, humble and teachable immersion-baptized follower of Jesus Christ

who seeks to honour the Lord in all areas of his/her life. The Worship Co-ordinator will

attempt to exhibit a lifestyle that brings glory to the Saviour. An ability to confidently lead in

“up front” roles as well as in one-on-one settings is an asset as is musical ability and

experience in worship leadership. The Worship Co-ordinator will be in agreement with WBC’s

statement of faith and bylaws and will become a member of WBC if he/she is not already.

The Worship Co-ordinator will work seamlessly with others on the church staff team and will

be invited but not required to attend weekly staff meetings. He/she will make every effort to

arrive 90 minutes before service time on Sunday mornings to assist the worship team in

preparations for the worship service.

The following are the general roles and responsibilities of the Worship Co-ordinator:

The Worship Co-ordinator will…

-Be an experienced and suitably gifted musician and worship leader who is able to teach and

direct others in the music and worship ministry

-Be one who is sensitive and open to a wide range of worship and music styles

-Give oversight to the music and worship ministry including the worship leaders and team

members

-Be an active part of the worship ministry on Sunday mornings (playing, singing, sound,

worship training with children, etc…) at least 3 Sundays per month

-Attend services at WBC even on the weeks they are not involved in worship leading-- except

when on vacation or leave for ministry purposes

-Actively communicate with the rest of the staff, especially with respect to aspects of the

Sunday morning ministry planning and any possible changes to WBC’s worship vision

-Recruit, coordinate, train and motivate worship team leaders and members with the overall

goals of including many different people in the worship ministry of WBC and pursuing a

standard of excellence for a number of separate teams

-Develop a “worship team covenant” for worship team members to sign that helps to increase

their understanding of the worship ministry and their commitment to being dependable

-Endeavour to plan and schedule teams well in advance

-Assist in the planning of services- including developing a working knowledge of Planning

Centre, CCLI, Easy Worship, PowerPoint (or any other potential program or software) to the

point that he/she can help all worship team leaders master these programs and/or software

-Assist with song selection and maintaining a blended worship music repertoire which includes

many musical genres

-Assist with special events and other WBC ministry departments requiring music ministry

whenever possible

-Facilitate training and practice opportunities for worship teams and leaders

-Oversee the acquisition, use and maintenance of WBC-owned instruments and music

materials

-Collaborate with Sound and PowerPoint ministries

Important Note:

The WBC staff and board are aware that 8 hours per week is a small amount of time in which

to accomplish these ministry goals. It is not expected that the successful candidate will be

able to achieve all the expectations immediately. We are striving for a culture of team work

and interdependence where each leader feels empowered, encouraged and supported through

the ups and downs of ministry and where every staff member and volunteer can develop a

healthy, balanced, God-focused lifestyle!

Applications for this position will be accepted until June 15, 2019. Applicants that the search

team consider to be a good potential fit for the position will be contacted for an interview.
