Position Overview and Phases 

SIM Canada receives funds for approximately 200 of the about 500 SIM International projects. We seek a person with elevated grant writing skills, an out-of-the-box approach to fund development, and general experience in project coordination with oversight. The role includes providing donors with quarterly reports and, where necessary, customized reports that meet the requirements of major donors and Foundations. The chosen candidate would have the ability to enlarge the project portfolio both locally and overseas. This role reports to the Executive Director and the Project Administrator.

Assets & Transferable Skills:

  • Verifiable education in the related fields and or coupled with experience.
  • Familiarization with the Not-for-profit Christian sector.
  • Competency in writing, editing, and publishing reports.
  • Competency in the use of Microsoft Office and other software to enhance reporting. presentation and output of materials.
  • Social media savvy with professional experience.
  • Working experience within a Christian-based mission agency or organization.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment
  • Fundraising and or development experience preferred, along with the ability to build authentic donor/partner-centric relationships.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and CRM donor management database experience.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, and evident ability to handle multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Inter-cultural competency.
  • Strong Christian convictions, with an appreciation and passion for global missions. 

Grant Writer Role (50%):

  • Research and review grant opportunities for organizational fit, eligibility, and timing. Coupled with the development and maintenance of a grant calendar to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate the completion and submission of all grant applications and reporting components.
  • Grant writing experience with an ability to be innovative in your approach to further develop this area for SIM Canada.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent presentation skills.
  • Possess critical thinking skills and independent judgment and is a self-starter. Able to prioritize and execute tasks with minimal direction. 

Project Coordination Role (50%): 

  • Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure that projects adhere to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Analyze project status and, when necessary, revise the scope, schedule, or budget to ensure that project requirements can be met.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant client stakeholders, providing day-to-day contact on project status and changes.
  • Report project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate management channels and escalate issues, as necessary, according to project work plan.

Fund Development: The ideal candidate is creative and thinks outside of the box to generate new ideas and ways to increase mission engagement (prayer and financial support), brand awareness, and other fundraising strategies.

  • Contracted position for 6 months at 3 days at 22.5 hours per week (there is a potential for the role to become full-time.
  • Pay scale $21.5-$25 per hour
  • Attend Daily Prayer (8:30 AM – 9:00 AM)
  • Participating in staff Committees as needed
