Pastor of Local & Global Engagement

Context

Our vision is to become a missional church of 10,000 meeting the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of people in Jesus’s name. The following staff position is critical in helping Sanctus execute on the fulfillment of that vision.

Role

The Pastor of Local and Global Engagement will be a highly relational leader mobilizing our church to become more missional in Jesus’ name. The successful candidate will report to the Pastor of Central Ministries and have a strategic influence to lead, galvanize, and equip our staff and congregation in alignment with Sanctus’ vision, mission, and strategic planning.

  • To be the main point of contact with our Local and Global Partners, and supported Missionaries 
  • To have a passionate heart for the mission of God and God’s people, leading and spearheading Sanctus’ Engage in Mission Discipleship Dimension, and mobilizing our church to live missionally.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the primary champion and liaison for all local and global partners—advocating for their needs, sharing stories of impact, fostering prayerful support, and integrating them into the life of the church.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with partners through regular communication, encouragement, and spiritual support.
  • Share partner prayer requests consistently with staff and serve team members to encourage ongoing intercession.
  • Support Site Pastors in cultivating local partner relationships and promoting serving opportunities within their communities.
  • Lead, plan, and implement our 5-year churchwide missional campaign of 100k missional acts )
  • Work with Communications, Services team, and Site Pastors to spotlight local and global partners monthly at Sunday services in order to systematically provide prayer support and highlight opportunities to serve and meet their practical needs. 
  • Lead an annual global mission team trip to support one of our global partners, which includes: promotion, team selection, training, coordinating fundraising events,  leading the team on the trip overseas, supporting them as they return, debrief, congregational follow-up, and discipling them to live on mission locally.
  • Run an annual discipleship event designed to operationalize our Engage in Mission Discipleship Dimension, and galvanize participants to greater missional living by sharing stories from our partners.
  • Collaborate with Site Pastors and Ministry Leads to help them engage locally through invitational events and missional outreach. 
  • Collaborate with the Next Generation team to support people of all ages to grow in the Engage in Mission dimension.
  • In partnership with communications, site pastors, and ministry leads, coordinate  our central November local partner donation drive to meet local partner needs and help our community grow in radical generosity.
  • In alignment with Senior Leadership and our partnerships philosophy, explore opportunities to expand financial support to current partners and take on new partners.
  • Collaborate with Site Pastors and Ministry Leads to help them engage locally through invitational events and missional outreach. For example: Ajax Site’s migrant workers dinner.
  • Participate and serve at Alpha courses run annually across Sanctus sites.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with Sanctus staff on church-wide events (Conferences).
  • Plan and manage the Partnerships Fiscal Year budget.
  • Work closely with the Pastor of Central Ministries on ad-hoc pastoral projects and other pastoral duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • University Degree desired; Seminary Degree (complete or in progress) desired.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with the following profile:
    • Familiarity with Sanctus Church.
    • Personal experience with local and global missions is an asset.
    • Personal experience with a Christian NGO is an asset.
    • Experience working in a multi-staff, large, church context is an asset.
    • Work experience in a fast-paced, high-caliber team environment is an asset.
    • Experience working collaboratively across teams with non-reporting stakeholders and diverse portfolios, with a proven ability to foster alignment and shared outcomes.
    • Strong track record of planning and executing large-scale, high-profile projects with multiple contributors, managing timelines, priorities, and communication effectively.
  • Able to provide a minimum of 3 character and work-related references.

  • Some combination of leadership, evangelism, shepherding, mercy, intercession and exhortation. Other gifts are more than welcome.
