Finance Director: Virtual/Hybrid

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Frontiers Canada, a disciple-making that sends Canadians to represent Jesus with love and respect in the Muslim world, is seeking a seasoned and relational leader to serve as Finance Director. This individual will provide financial leadership and strategic oversight, ensuring organizational sustainability and mission effectiveness. This includes overseeing financial operations including budgeting, reporting, compliance, payroll, and stewardship of resources.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all financial operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and stewardship of resources.
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes; analyze financial data to support decision-making and monitor performance.
  • Prepare and present accurate financial reports to leadership and the board; oversee general ledger, account reconciliations, and timely financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, accounting standards, and regulatory reporting requirements, including T3010 and T4s.
  • Coordinate the annual audit and implement recommendations to strengthen financial controls and practices.
  • Maintain and enhance financial policies, procedures, and internal controls; provide training and support to staff.
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable/receivable, cash flow, investments, and interfund transfers with affiliated offices.
  • Manage financial systems, including payroll, accounting, and donation platforms, ensuring effective integration and functionality.
  • Supervise and support finance team staff, fostering growth and collaboration.
  • Contribute to special projects and process improvements as assigned by leadership.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven background & experience in Financial Management.
  • CPA designation is preferred (or significant equivalent experience).
  • Experience with managing a team, working closely with senior leadership and reporting to a board.
  • Familiarity with Canadian charity compliance and accounting standards.
  • Strong understanding of financial systems and platforms (QuickBooks Online).
  • Post-secondary education in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.

WORK ARRANGEMENTS

  • Virtual office structure, headquartered in MB
  • Remote work environment for most staff
  • Hybrid work option available for candidates based in MB
