Position Overview
The Lead Pastor serves as the primary spiritual and administrative leader of Church of God Moose Jaw, overseeing operational leadership of a team of 15-20 pastors and support staff. This role includes providing leadership to the Elders’ and Deacons’ Boards and ensuring that all aspects of church life—from worship services to outreach and discipleship—are carried out with excellence. The Lead Pastor is responsible for preaching and teaching the Word of God, leading the congregation in spiritual growth, providing pastoral care, and equipping the church for ministry and mission.
Who We Are
The Church of God – Moose Jaw is a large community church of 800 congregants affiliated with the Church of God denomination in Cleveland, TN. Located in the downtown heart of our city, we serve as a beacon of hope to Moose Jaw and beyond, drawing people to discover their identity in Christ and potential to accomplish great things for God by embodying the values of hospitality, openness, potential, and empathy. We are seeking a Lead Pastor called by God to shepherd, teach, and lead our church into the next season of ministry.
Qualifications
- A passionate follower of Jesus, committed to advancing the Gospel
- Born-again, Spirit-filled, and living a life of integrity and humility
- Hold a three-year ministry degree or equivalent theological degree
- Ordained Bishop credentialed by the Church of God (Cleveland, TN) or willingness to become credentialed with the Church of God
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in pastoral leadership
- Proven ability to lead and navigate growth within a local church
- Aligns with the COG Statement of Faith and Core Values
- Demonstrates financial integrity and generosity
Key Responsibilities
- Cast a compelling vision aligned with COG-MJ’s mission and values
- Deliver biblically sound, engaging, and Spirit-led messages
- Utilize a variety of styles (expository, topical, contextual) to communicate God’s Word effectively
- Lead and mentor Staff, Elders, Deacons and key ministry leaders
- Provide pastoral care through intentional relationships and timely presence
- Equip the body for care ministry and intergenerational discipleship

This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits including health, dental, housing and cell allowances, paid time off and continuing education allowance. Salary will range depending on education and experience.
