Celebrating its 50th year, L.A.M.P. (www.lampministry.org) has been providing spiritual witness and nurturing faith in communities in remote areas of northern Canada since 1970 through the ministry of pastor/ missionary/pilots, and short and long-term volunteers-in-mission. Each year over 5,000 children, youth and adults are impacted by the ministry of L.A.M.P.
L.A.M.P.’s volunteers and staff from Canada and the United States share the love of Jesus with Indigenous people in communities in remote northern Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia through Christ-centered Bible studies and other outreach projects.
With an annual budget of approximately $1M, there are currently over 400 active volunteers, approximately 2,000 donor relationships, and a small and dedicated staff of FT and PT employees in Canada and the United States.
The Executive Director opening is a result of an upcoming retirement. With the head office located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and a satellite office in New Haven, MI, US, the Executive Director reports to two volunteer Boards of Directors (one Canadian and one US Board) that act as a single entity on matters related to the operations of L.A.M.P – Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots Inc. (Canada) and LAMP Ministry Inc. (US). The Executive Director is the Board’s single official link to the operating organization. S/he is accountable for all organizational performance and exercises all authority transmitted into the organization by the Board.
As the Executive Director, you will be accountable for the following:
- Advising the Board of Directors on all matters relating to the Operations of L.A.M.P.
- Fundraising and Resource Development.
- Marketing and Promoting of L.A.M.P. and its Mission.
- Leadership, Management, and Administrative Duties.
- Building and Furthering Relationships with Indigenous Northern Communities.
- Financial Management.
- Strategic Planning.
In addition to meeting the above criteria, you will have a strong Christian faith, a belief in the triune God and that the Bible is God’s inspired word in its entirety, possess a heart and passion for missions, significant experience in a leadership capacity, previously worked with Boards and volunteers, and have a track record in fundraising and development as it pertains to a not-for-profit organization. Experience working with the underprivileged, as well as Indigenous communities, would be an asset. A preference may be shown to practicing Lutheran candidates.
